* ~ Result of Charity ~ *
It is due to the divine Law that we are reaping wealth or poverty in this life as a result of our deeds of the previous birth.
Once a Grocer happened to hear and exhortation , There is no charity greater than charity of food. He wished to attain higher life by feeding poor people. He wished to attain higher life by feeding poor people. But he was a miser to the core. He found some rotten wheat flour in a corner of his store. Even ants and insects would not touch it. He arranged to make chapattis out of it and started distributing them to the poor. His wife pleaded not to resort to such a sinful act. But he would not listen. One day his wife, made some chapattis out of that flour, and gave it to him as a part of his meal. He rebuked her for this. She then said “I did it for your own good. Some time in the future, you may have to eat this type of food, as a result of your charities. I thought you would not find difficulty in future if you are accustomed to eating this type of food right from now”. He then came to his senses. From then onwards, he was engaged in distributing good food to the poor people.
In the spiritual field, it amounts to self deceit when one tries to earn merits through devious means, or through selfish ideas.
